No nation or civilization has ever prospered by depending on other nations. The Information that is out there nowadays is quite enough to allow any group of people to come up with a sustainable living plan for themselves.

I remember back then in 2002 when I started studying computers. There was not much information about it. And the little information that was around was also difficult to access. Now I see many of my contemporary comrades getting access to watching and publishing content on the internet so easy and cheap. It was impossible then, and it looked like there was no knowledge down here. When you look at youtube you can notice how many people from poor countries who have started to share knowledge in the tech field. Knowledge has become accessible.

But, as technologists, we surely know that there is a big problem that awaits us in the corner of the nearest future. We have always been full of potential and full of ideas. Lack of tools and platforms to express them has always been our limitation. Now, these means are being given to us, sometimes, for free. And you would agree with me that this doesn't come with no consequences.

I suggest that this is the right time for us to start thinking of putting in place our tech and take control over the policies that govern the field. Otherwise, in the nearest future, we're going to be limited like in the past in many other fields. Soon, youtube and other giants are going to limit us from sharing our knowledge and connecting with ourselves. And when that happens we're going back to the stone age. We need a backup. We still have the right to fall and fail. We cannot expect to succeed in something at the same pace as the people who created it while we were sleeping. That would be a miracle. We also need to suffer to come up with our own solutions.

And when I suggest that we take over our tech industry, that doesn't mean we have to aim at becoming like China or the USA or any other so-called "modern & developed" countries. We have seen the damages they are going through and we should learn from it. We don't have to follow the same curve. We still have endless ways of implementing technologies like in our agriculture. We can focus on producing enough food for everyone, and why not, in our medicine and health systems. Let's stop allowing Aliens to come and create technologies for us and then tag them as local products while they do not serve our interest and are just there to favor ONLY those Aliens.
