Exploring the Adobe Illustrator environment

Familiarizing yourself with your work environment is a good step in becoming a good designer. In this video, we are going to explore the environment of Adobe(R) Illustrator(R) and some of its tools.

Illustrator is a vector design application with a standard windows interface. The software is adequate for visual illustration, painting art, and logo design activities.

It's software used by both, learners and industry experts. It's intuitive and easy-to-use interface and its easy learning curve make of it the industry-standard application for creative art.

Adobe(R) Illustrator(R) window is divided into six(6) main parts such as:

  • The menu bar: It contains features and functions that either complete the tools or work differently on their own.
  • The control panel: It extends the functions of tools and provides more details and twists on a selected element of your composition.
  • Airboard: The airboard is your work canvas or paper. Its flexible can have any dimension you want. You can also use many airboards like the slideshows on Microsoft Powerpoint.
  • Tools panel: This panel is the tools home. it provides various tools used in drawing, painting, typography, etc. The tools panel requires a lot of practice to get your hands on it.
  • Properties panels: These panels are additional features that accompany the tools or they provide an extended environment to enhance your design.
  • The status bar: It's located under the airboard and provides the zoom textbox and the airboards navigation tab.
